Wow, this is going to be an interesting week! Here is our Sunday Staircase asking (1) where are we now (2) what our challenge will be & (3) how will we overcome it? (1) How beautifully the Empress reminds us to remember the areas of our life which are rich and fertile, emotionally or materially, and to enjoy and cultivate them and carry on creating with passion, even when there is sh*& going down elsewhere in our lives. Life is cyclical and so are our joys and sorrows – as Blake said, “He that binds himself to a joy/Doth the winged life destroy/He who kisses the joy as it flies/Lives in eternity’s sunrise”. Focus on the joy flying before you right now, even if the sorrows around it seem bigger. (2) The 6 of swords tells us that our challenge is now to actively grow and choose to move on from those things troubling us – and not merely forget about them by focusing on the good things we already have, as the Empress has advised. We need to take ourselves and the good we create – as symbolised by the child with the woman in this boat (the Empress in disguise?) and choose to move from hell into a haven. This is hard. We can be surprisingly attached to difficult people and situations. What needs changing? What is stifling our creativity? Who is silencing us? How do we step away from that? Why are we resisting? (3) The High Priestess reversed tells us listening to our intuition will answer these questions. She is reversed, warning us that we often let the busyness of our everyday lives come between us and our inherent knowledge of what is best for us and what is truly going on. Trust yourself and your gut. Insist on honesty,to and with yourself and from others! I love how the Empress seems to take a journey upwards through this spread! She’s hanging at the end in her more introverted and mystical aspect of High Priestess but look at the 🌙she’s hanging from in this position – this is the EXACT phase of the moon TODAY, waning as it heads for the New Moon on 7th Dec.
